Enjoy Live Performances at the State Theatre

The State Theatre has been a long standing institution for the Minneapolis performing arts community. Upon its conception, it was considered the most elaborate and technically advanced theatre in the United States. After shutting its doors in 1978, the theatre reopened in 1991 after the Minneapolis Community Development Agency purchased the LaSalle Plaza block. It features the original chandeliers and murals, while hosting a variety of shows throughout the year.

Upcoming events include:

MinnRoast 2017 (April 28, 8:00 p.m.)

For the last ten years, the MinnRoast has been the MinnPost’s song and skit variety show that features local politicians, journalists, and media personalities. They entertain the audience by singing, dancing, and poking fun at each other. Those scheduled to appear this year include celebrity chef Andrew Zimmern, Senator Al Franken, and opera star Maria Jette.

Sebastian Maniscalco (May 21, 7:00 p.m.)

Called a comic with his “own kind of panache” by the New York Times, Sebastian Maniscalco draws fans from across North America. He’s known for saying what everyone is thinking and he has appeared on late night television shows such as “Conan” and “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”

Julianne & Derek Hough (May 28, 7:00 p.m.)

Fans of Dancing with the Stars won’t want to miss this brother and sister duo who are traveling the country this spring with their newest show inspired by earth, wind, fire, and water. They’ll be joined by the Move Company Dancers for group numbers in ballroom, salsa, and tap.
