Explore the Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium

Not far from 4Marq Apartments is a fun destination that’s home to an array of aquatic creatures. We’re talking about the Sea Life Minnesota Aquarium, which is complete with thirty displays including interactive touch pools and a 300-foot walk-through tunnel. Interesting animals and exhibits not to be missed include:

Weedy Sea Dragon

Found in the waters off of Australia, weedy sea dragons measure up to 18 inches in length, and they have long, thin snouts and slender trunks. Their dorsal and pectoral fins steer them awkwardly through the water, and they also blend in well with their surroundings.

Loggerhead Sea Turtle

Loggerhead sea turtles prefer coastal habitats, and they’re the most common marine turtle in the United States. They weigh approximately 250 pounds and are identified by their massive head and soft, reddish-brown shell. These turtles feast on jellyfish, conchs, and crabs, and have been considered a threatened species since 1978.

Sand Tiger Shark

Also known as gray nurse sharks, sand tiger sharks have a flattened, cone-shaped snout and a distinctive oblong tail. They’re the only shark species known to come to the surface to gulp air, and their staple meal is fish.

Spectacled Caiman

Spectacled caimans are crocodiles that can adapt to both fresh and saltwater habitats in Central and South America. They’re named for the bony ridge that lies between their eyes which gives the appearance of spectacles. Adults are olive to nearly black in color, and they range in size from 5.9 to 6.6 feet.

Snorkel with the Fish

Snorkel with the Fish is a unique adventure that allows guests to swim with the aquatic life in the Rainbow Reef exhibit. The fun includes education, thirty minutes of snorkeling, and a souvenir photo.
