Spend A Day At The Theodore Wirth Regional Park

Located a short drive from 4Marq Apartments is the Theodore Wirth Regional Park. It covers more than 740 acres and it’s the largest park in the Minneapolis park system that offers year-round activities. Here is some of what you can see and do:

Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary – Open mid-April through mid-October, this garden and bird sanctuary welcomes 60,000 visitors every year. It has twelve gardens that feature different habitats and combined, they’re home to over 500 plant species and 130 bird species. Also located within the garden is the Martha Crone Visitor Shelter that has natural history displays and volunteers who can answer garden-related questions.

Wirth Lake Beach – At Worth Lake Beach, you’ll find a sand volleyball court, walking path, playground, fishing pier, and floating swim deck.

Wirth Par 3 Golf Club – This par 3 golf club is one of the prettiest nine-hole courses in Minnesota. It’s family friendly and has well-maintained fairways and rolling hills. Golfers can also join a league or improve their game by taking lessons.

Theodore Wirth Golf Club – The Theodore Wirth Golf Club is one of Minnesota’s oldest public courses. It contains mature trees, rolling hills, and man-made lagoons, all of which offer challenges.

Wirth Winter Recreation Area – When the snow falls, the Wirth Winter Recreation Area allows visitors to enjoy several activities. They include snow tubing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and skijoring (becoming increasingly popular, skijoring is a sport in which a dog pulls a cross-country skier over snow.)
