At the 4Marq Apartments, residents are surrounded by the arts. Explore the multidisciplinary exhibit at the Walker Art Center, conveniently located near Loring Park. This amazing contemporary art museum offers both visual and performing arts exhibitions that will blow your mind. Free admission is available on the first Saturday of every month.
As the adjacent Sculpture Garden campus, home of the famous Spoonbridge and Cherry, is being renovated, the Walker Art Center also offers a mini golf course on the terrace. This imaginative course, designed by artists, includes an enormous hot dog, a freaky chicken coop, and loads of fun. Each golfer receives a free gallery admission.
The 2016 Loring Park Art Festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 30th and 31st. Over 140 artists are scheduled to display their works. The festival also offers stage performances, music, and food booths, so you can easily spend the whole day in this delightful urban park.
If you love to write, make sure you visit The Loft Literary Center, as it is considered one of the best in the country. They offer a wide variety of classes, events, and conferences. Whether you want to write the next great American novel or discover your inner poet, there’s something for everyone. Located on Washington Avenue South, in the Open Book building, it is worth checking out. The building itself is a peaceful sanctuary, perfect for meeting friends at the cafe, and features a central staircase lined with “pages” of writing.
The building is also home to the Minnesota Center for the Book Arts, where art and literature meet. The center is the first of its kind in the nation. The friendly folks at the Minnesota Center for the Book Arts are passionate about literature, which they consider an art form.
