On October 6th and 7th, the Minnesota State Fair Grounds is hosting the Twin Cities Oktoberfest at its Progress Center building that dates back more than 120 years.
Each ticket includes admission, a stein, and one fill.
Whether visitors are German or German at heart, there’s something for everyone. Highlights include:
Food – Several vendors will be on hand to serve delicious meals and delectable treats. Choices include chickenwurst, potato pancakes, and cinnamon roasted nuts.
Bavarian Musikmeisters – The Bavarian Musikmeisters are a thirty-five member wind instrument band modeled after the traditional groups that entertain in Europe’s German-speaking areas. Everything from the group’s attire to musical arrangements is authentic.
The Squires Band – The Squires are a four-piece band that plays a unique mix of instruments. Their shows feature a full sound and light system, and their music includes polkas, waltzes, and classic rock.
The Jolly Huntsman Polka Band – For more than fifty years, The Jolly Huntsman Polka Band has entertained audiences in three states. They provide some of the most authentic traditional polka music in the area, and for the last twenty-two years, have been featured performers at the Minnesota Orchestra’s Viennese Sommerfest.
S.G. Edelweiss – The S.G. Edelweiss group states they strive to maintain the cultures and customs of the Bavarian and Tyrolean people through dancing and costumes. The group dates back to 1961 and performs throughout the upper Midwest.
